presenter, and creator of the Wanda Woman Workout, Wanda Bamberg
Tia has devoted her life to fitness and healthy lifestyles for over
twenty years. She is well known for her dance-inspired high-energy
master classes that have taken her as far as Botswana, Africa.
She has been featured in
several magazines, including HEART AND SOUL, ESSENCE,
ABOUT TIME, and YOUNG SISTERS AND BROTHERS. In 1995, she was selected as one of the best aerobic
fitness leaders by a Washington Post People's Choice survey, and
in 1996 she was recognized as one of the great Women of Washington
DC for her dedication to fun and safe, quality fitness programs
for the community. She has appeared on FIT TV, GOOD MORNING
AMERICA, HOME TEAM SPORTS, and most recently on NBC
4(WRC-TV) NEWS in Washington DC as part of a week long series
entitled, YOUR OLYMPIC WORKOUT. In addition, in 1993-94, she was
one of the first African-American women to be the sole executive
producer of her own cable television workout show, The WandaWoman
Aerobic Workout.
Wanda has managed, designed
and implemented group exercise programs for corporations, government
agencies, public and private schools and churches. Her health and
fitness forums and seminars for both men and women overflow with
attendants.
She presented for the US
Public Health Service's Office on Women's Health during the First
National Leadership Conference on "Physical Activity & Women's
Health" in collaboration with The American College of Sports Medicine
and the "Healthy Women 2000" conference. Wanda founded the WandaWoman
Dance Exercise Studio in Washington, DC in 1989. She was the first
African American woman to create and run her own aerobic dance studio
in the Metropolitan area. Her program was new, enlightening and
designed from her own personal experiences. In addition to studying
the science of physical fitness and instructional techniques, she
learned the art of managing a physical fitness center. Her approach
brought together men and women of all fitness levels through a creative
and nurturing environment, providing uplifting and stress-releasing
classes. Within a year, she was already featured on the cover of
Health and Beauty News. From there, the accolades continued.
